The Association of Muslim Schools UK (AMS) is governed by its Shura Council (also known as the Executive Committee), elected from and by its member schools. All member schools have the opportunity to take part in AMS’s decision-making processes at the Annual General Meeting and even nominate a representative for election to the Shura Council where they can provide guidance and vision to AMS and the membership of Muslim schools under its umbrella.
The purpose of the Association is to help Muslim schools fulfil their potential by assisting them in improving the quality of teaching and learning and in improving networking between schools so they can share best practice. AMS’s close relationship with the Department for Education, where AMS representatives meet with senior civil servants as part of the Faith Providers Committee, also allows us to help policy and decision makers better understand the outstanding work Muslim schools are doing to contribute to society.
We hope that by becoming an AMS member school, you can help the Association to continue growing as it has done and that your involvement helps us and Muslim schools throughout the country to improve.

Prospective members will also receive a visit from their regional Hub Co-ordinator before membership is approved.
Approval or rejection of AMS Membership will be given in writing.
If approved, schools will be invited to make payment of the current year’s Membership Subscription fee which, upon receipt, will commence AMS membership.
Independent schools which were registered with the DfE and began operation in the current or previous academic year are entitled to a waiver of their first year’s Membership Subscription fee.
If an application is rejected, the joining fee will be reimbursed in full. Schools are free to re-apply for membership at any time. To access AMS’s services as non-members, schools may sign up to a service pack.
